The First ever European school was built in October 1953 by the Coal and Steal Comunity, and the Luxembourg Governement. THe first school was in Luxembourg. It was sort of a test if you could have a school teaching in so many different languages. In April 1957 the European School became the  first European School in Europe and a treaty was signed by the member states, and the first European Baccalaureate was held in July 1959.
Nowadays there are 14 European Schools: Two in Luxembourg, four in Brussels, one in Mol, one in Alicante, one in Karlsruhe, Munich and Frankfurt, one in Strasbourg, one in Bergen, one in Varesse and of course one in Culham.
